A glimpse of Mexico - An early inspiration
Jason learned of the art and passion of tequila from his Mexican Mother, Linda. Inspired as a boy by the stories she told of authentic, handcrafted tequila and the beautiful bottles she would bring home. He remembers how she would insist her guests would sip and taste the many complex flavors of the tequilas she collected and delight in their reactions. For him, the die was cast early, his love of this agave expression ignited.
From Jalisco to Malibu - a dream re-imagined
Hailing from Northern Canada, Jason’s partner and Baila co-founder Deb had always dreamed of the southern Califiornia lifestyle. Together the life they’ve crafted reflects that aspiration - entertaining their diverse group of friends with unpretentious and effortless SoCal style; she continues to embrace the discovery and constant sense of renewal that Los Angeles offers.
In creating Baila, she was determined to build something that matters - a superior product, made of high quality natural ingredients; a better option reflecting a healthier lifestyle of which she is in constant pursuit.
As the brand’s leader and guide, Deb has helped to formulate and blend drinks that meet the moment - an enhancement to any beach afternoon with friends, a dreamy day on the water or an enchanting Malibu evening celebration. Baila is designed to transport you to that first vacation sip.
Baila - from the founder of Cierto - the world’s most awarded tequila
What started as a desire to understand the tequila making process became something of an obsession for Jason. Initially shut out of the industry as he wasn’t a local, Jason persistently demonstrated his passion and desire to learn from the master tequileros of the region. He was fortunate enough to be guided by the best - master distiller Enrique Fonseca and Sergio Mendoza at the famed La Tequileña distillery. And so, over a period of 2 years he diligently worked to help craft and blend what became Cierto, an additive free celebration of tequila - honoring the land, the agave and the traditional tequila making processes.
Not satisfied with having co-created the world’s most awarded tequila, Jason turned his attention to creating a ready to drink cocktail - bringing the same craftsmanship to a category dominated by synthetic flavors and malt or mixto distillate. Together with partner Deb, and over many months of work they created beautiful flavor profiles using elevated ingredients, combining 100% pure, additive free tequila with fresh sparkling water, natural juice and pure coconut water to deliver a clean, mouth-watering flavor. Baila was born!
